Efficient Maintenance Management
One of the big challenges that the Navy faces is maintaining the vast array of equipment it uses, while avoiding unnecessary downtime and the high costs that includes.
CHALLENGE:
Creating new strategies for more efficient maintenance management is a strategic initiative, requiring equipment expertise and real understanding of the installed environment.
SOLUTION:
At McKean, our subject matter experts apply their Fleet experience and engineering discipline to meet this challenge. One example is our support to the Diesel Readiness System for LSD ships. We monitor and analyze combustion “Doctor” data, lube oil analysis test results and material history entries and identify necessary corrective actions. These could include immediate fixes, approaches to correct class wide problems on a broader scale, or long term maintenance recommendations to the maintenance team and technical communities.
SUCCESS:
Better maintenance planning equates to better cost-management, and McKean is contributing to that effort. In one quarter alone, our team identified 287 recommendations for the Navy to implement.
